Kate for Brunswick Park

by Anood Al-Samerai on 10 February, 2011

I am delighted that Kate Heywood has been selected as our Liberal Democrat candidate for the Bruswick Park ward by-election on 10th March. I have known Kate for many years and she is a really lovely, bright and hard working young woman who is committed to her community. She has lots of experience at a grass roots level and is particularly passionate about young people and education. She has served on the managment committee of a local youth club, been a chair of governors and raised money for St Giles Trust. She also does lots of work with her local church and I know that she would make a fantastic councillor.

This ward has had Labour councillors for many years and it would be fantastic to have a different and Liberal Democrat voice in the area. The outcome of this election won’t change who runs the council, but another Labour councillor will just have to do what their cabinet tells them to. It would be great if Brunswick Park could elect a councillor who can really stand up for local residents and I wish Kate all the very best over the next few weeks.

“outcome of this election won’t change who runs the council…” but a strong vote for Kate will send a massive message to Labour that they need to stop taking us all for granted in Southwark.
